I, Ramani Kannan is Senior Lecturer and Postgraduate Programme Leader in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Chair, IEEE PELS, Malaysia Chapter since 2022. I have an outstanding record. I received a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bharathiyar University, India. I also obtained a Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Electricals and Electronics Engineering specializing in Power Electronics and Drives from ANNA UNIVERSITY, India. For my Ph.D. Thesis, I worked on Performance analysis of multilevel inverter fed induction motor drive. (Advisor: Professor Emeritus Dr.A.Krishnan).
I have 16 years plus of experience in Teaching, 13 years of experience in Research and Development, and 10 years of experience in Academic Administration. I am actively engaged with Professional Societies as a Chartered Engineer CEng (UK), Senior Member IEEE (USA), Member of IET – Institution of Engineering and Technology, Certified as Professional Technologist in Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) since 2022, BEM (Graduate Engineer) since 2021, and Life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Member of Institution of Engineers (IE), and Institute of advance engineering and science (IAES). Convened and organized many Workshops, Conferences and symposiums and chaired several technical sessions, and the moderator for many scientific sessions at international conferences. Mentor and branch counselor for professional chapters. Published more than 125 research papers and 10 book chapters, extensively in international Journals and forums with a good number of citations and has handled a number of industry/government-funded projects and schemes. Served as editor and reviewer for many National and International Conferences and Journals with high repute.
My research areas of interest include Power Electronics and Drives, Renewable energy systems and, Radiation in power semiconductor devices ad Artificial Intelligence Applications to Power Electronics. Visited foreign universities in Malaysia and Indonesia. Dr. Ramani is recognized with many awards, including the “Career Award for Young Teacher” from AICTE India, 2012; “Young Scientist Award” in power electronics and Drives, 2015; “Highest Research publication Award” 2017. Award for Outstanding Performance, Service and Dedication 2019 at UTP, Malaysia and “Outstanding Researcher Award” in UTP Quality Day 2019, Best Presenter Award, IEEE CENCON 2019 international conference in Indonesia. He has completed 5 funded projects and 7 research projects in progress. The grants are FRGS, ASEAN-India, YUTP, KETTHA, and STIRF. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Asian Scientific Research (2011-2018) and Regional Editor for the International Journal of Computer-Aided Engineering and technology, Inderscience Publisher, the UK since 2015. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access journal since 2018, Associate Editor of IET-JoE journal, and Editor of Machines MDPI journal. Dr. Ramani is servicing many guest editors such as Elsevier journal, Inderscience, IGI Global and IJPAM, etc. Book Editor: Springer nature Singapore, CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, Bentham Science Publishers, and Wiley.
